A curriculum designed around governance, leadership, institutions, accountability, ethics, communication, and practical problem-solving.
We set out to build leaders who understand governance
The Adedamola Richard Kasunmu Leadership Engagement (T.A.R.K.L.E) Fellowship is an hybrid Leadership Fellowship. Each cohort lasts for a period of three months of online learning with a physical grand finale hosting on site in Lagos Nigeria.

What we do
Governance affects almost every aspect of our lives, from the quality of public services and institutions to how resources are managed and how decisions that affect communities are made.
Yet governance is often treated as something distant from ordinary citizens and future leaders. Tarkle takes a different approach. We believe that understanding governance should be part of leadership development.
The Tarkle Fellowship is a leadership and governance development programme designed to equip emerging leaders with the knowledge, skills, and perspective required to understand public institutions, engage with governance challenges, and lead responsibly.
Bad governance has consequences
Weak institutions, poor decision-making, lack of accountability, ineffective policies, and failures of leadership can affect communities for years.
Addressing these challenges requires more than criticism. It requires people who understand the systems they seek to improve.
Tarkle was created to contribute to that process by developing leaders who are informed about governance, capable of critical thinking, committed to ethical leadership, and prepared to turn knowledge into responsible action.
Empowering responsible governance leadership
Our Vision
A generation of informed, ethical, capable leaders contributing to stronger institutions and better governance.
Our Mission
To develop emerging leaders with the knowledge, judgment, skills, and practical understanding required to contribute meaningfully to good governance.

Learning formats that combine online lessons, reading materials, case studies, discussions, live sessions, assignments, and assessments.
A leadership journey that moves fellows from learning and understanding to challenging assumptions, applying knowledge, and leading responsibly.
Principles that shape the fellowship
Knowledge strengthens leadership
Good intentions are not enough. Leaders need knowledge of institutions, systems, policies, laws, and the environments in which decisions are made.
Leadership is a responsibility
Leadership should be understood as responsibility and service, not simply authority or status.
Good governance requires informed people
Citizens and leaders are better positioned to participate constructively in public affairs when they understand how governance works.
Critical thinking matters
Complex public problems rarely have simple answers. Fellows examine evidence, challenge assumptions, and reason carefully.
Learning should lead to action
The purpose of education is not simply to accumulate information. Fellows should be able to apply what they learn to real problems.
Our approach combines structure with application
Through the fellowship, participants engage with governance and leadership concepts while developing the ability to apply those concepts to real-world situations.
More than a programme
Tarkle is a community of people committed to continuous learning and responsible leadership.
We want fellows to leave the programme with not only greater knowledge, but also relationships, perspectives, and a stronger sense of responsibility toward the communities and institutions they will influence.
The future we are building
The challenges facing societies are complex. One part of the solution is developing people who are better prepared to understand those challenges and lead through them.
